Hi there In 1938 my grandmother's sister and her husband ELIZABETH 'LIBBIE' AND HARRY SPEAR lived at 1196 Broadway St., San Francisco. There son ROY SPEAR and his wife FRANCIS and their daughters Bette and Donny lived across the street. Does anyone have a directory to look up ROY'S address? Is it possible to find out how long both families lived at these addresses? In 1938 would they have lived in houses or apartmenets there? What kind of an area was it? Judy This from the San Francisco City Directories: 1938: Spear, Harry, wife Elizabeth and Roy D., were all living at 1196 Broadway. 1939: Roy is not listed, but Harry and Elizabeth are. 1940: Harry and Elizabeth are still there, with Roy D. with wife Frances, at 1534 38th Ave. It is a nice area, will try to check Monday and see what is there now.
