    1. Re: [CASANFRA] CASANFRA Digest, Vol 1, Issue 12
    2. I need help locating the burial place for Benton Ellis MILLER. He was killed in an air crash in Germany on Oct. 3, 1947. He was in the Army Air Corps. Supposedly, he is buried in Southern California, but I haven't had any luck finding him. Or his military records relating to the accident. After all of these years his daughters would like some information. Thank you, Julie Collins

    1. [CASANFRA] locating Benton E. MILLER's grave

    3. Hi, Julie. If the data at the bottom of this email is for your father, he enlisted in the city of Los Angeles. It's possible that his burial place was indicated in his obituary, which may have appeared printed in the LA Times (or in the paper of a smaller community within greater Los Angeles). You can request an obituary lookup request at the ancestry/rootsweb or genforum message boards for Los Angeles county: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.losangeles http://genforum.com/ca/losangeles/ Or request an obituary lookup by a volunteer through the OBIT-L list. First read the instructions at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~obitl/ then click on "List of Volunteers," select California from the resulting page, and scroll down until you find the appropriate volunteer for Los Angeles county. Another strategy is to get obits for your paternal grandparents; your father may be buried in the same cemetery with them. ========================================= U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946 about Benton E Miller Name: Benton E Miller Birth Year: 1921 Race: White, citizen Nativity State or Country: California State: California County or City: Los Angeles Enlistment Date: 4 Feb 1942 Enlistment State: California Enlistment City: Los Angeles Branch: Air Corps Branch Code: Air Corps Grade: Private Grade Code: Private Term of Enlistment: Enlistment for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law Component: Army of the United States - includes the following: Voluntary enlistments effective December 8, 1941 and thereafter; One year enlistments of National Guardsman whose State enlistment expires while in the Federal Service; Officers appointed in the Army of Source: Civil Life Education: 2 years of college Civil Occupation: Draftsman, Electrical Marital Status: Single, without dependents Height: 69 Weight: 138 [email protected] wrote: I need help locating the burial place for Benton Ellis MILLER. 3. I did a seach in the L.A. Times historical archive and found a couple of articles from the early 1940s mentioning him, but I did not find an obituary or a news article about his death in 1947. You might try posting your query to the RootsWeb Los Angeles and CAGEN lists.
