Hello Mary, As for your questions on Albert Johnson I really do know a lot on him but there are a few key pieces I have NOT been able to find which I know would help with finding his parents. On every record (census, voter reg., and death record) it lists him as being born in Racine, WI - March 29, 1859. I have tried for a birth record in WI but was told they didn't keep records at that time. Although I did find a local lady that gave me some insight that I might try. Also ALL family stories say his father or mother was from Swedish Royalty and when they found out they Americanized the name they weren't too happy. Here's the Boys I know are his brothers that go on to live with Albert later and even work for him. Albert Johnson b. 1859 WI d. April 11, 1911 Charles G. Johnson 1863 b. CA Still looking for death date (1920-1930 time period) Did not marry John D. Johnson 1863 (Dec. 14, 1863) These two maybe twins B. CA d. 1905 father is listed and Peter and mother is listed as Josephine Did not marry The only Albert I could find that made since in early in CA Census was in 1870, Albert living with Peter & Josephine Johnson along with a Carl and John and a few more children which I think may die. By 1880 It lists Peter married but no wife (we did find a Josephine in Napa State Hospital the same age and being born in Sweden) we are not sure if this is her and have had no luck getting more info. I have Albert in almost every City Directory since 1880 until he dies in 1911. All his children's' records list their father being born in WI. I have tried so hard to find Albert and his wife Mary McLaughlin's marriage record in SF but honestly am sick of getting the NO RECORDs letters back from the churches. I know they were married around mid 1880-1881 because they have there first girl in 1882. They were a big Catholic family that had 11 children and lived on Chenery Street and ran a small Saloon and Grocery store. At this point any small detail is what will move this search forward. I'm surprised I have not been able to find a newspaper with a Marriage for Albert Johnson & Mary McLaughlin or mention of a baby (or babies) being born Dec. 14, 1863/64. More than looking for Albert since I have posted a lot about him I was really am trying to find more about the John Johnson who died April 18, 1860. Since the stories always talked about a remarriage I was thinking this story sort of fits. A father (John Johnson falls off roof and leaves a wife and child). I'm really looking for another OBIT from a SF paper if possible that might list more. Any one who says they all say the same DON'T believe it, I have found otherwise! Unfortunately the Census for 1860 was taken in August so he won't be listed and I have had no luck finding a Albert that fits. They may have gone away??? Any help or ideas? Thanks, Cathie
