    1. Re: [CASANFRA] ancestry.com feedback needed please

    3. To all that replied: Thanks for the feedback. I find that saving the records and viewing them (if you have Windows XP like I do) is very convenient (the magnification aspect, wow!). Right now I'm not much studying San Francisco any longer as my research is about done I think. However, now I'm digging around in the deep south (and I mean deep - Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, Louisiana, etc.) and I have found tons of information that I am sure is mine. I'm sharing it with my foster aunt and she is highly intrigued, believe me (I'm intrigued too, but these aren't really my relations or are they?). Anyway, I'm on the expensive trial (about $350 a year plan) for now but finding very little in the world records. It seems that the other half of me goes back very far (beyond record keeping dates) in the USA and it is pretty interesting I'd say. However, my personal criticisms are that there are a lot of mistakes the transcriptions of these old records from way down south (but not everyone has people named Rutilla and Ceithe, Seethe, etc.) I realize. I'm still bugged by that guy that called me up (he was a native of Berkeley, gee what a coincidence). I think the regular version is enough for me but I really don't want to share it with others (especially info. related to my late mother who was adopted in 1925). Thanks to all for the feedback. It is all positive so that is a real plus. As for AOL, I'll hold my comments on that! Hint: *ack!!!!* Oh, btw, I have some interesting news. It seems that the sealed adoption records that were and still are stored in New Orleans for Louisiana are still very much intact and suffered no damage from Katrina (they went in and got those records ASAP luckily). I'm still hoping to find records from that source. As it now stands, I'm waiting for a call back on that one. :) Regards to all, Sue >From: "Helen O'Connor" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [CASANFRA] ancestry.com feedback needed please >Date: Sun, 03 Sep 2006 22:58:43 -0600 > >Sue, >Here's my 2 cents about Ancestry: I live about 35 miles from Salt Lake >City and the Family History Library.
