    3. Dear Ruth, Thanks for posting back. The site is a bit complicated looking. I continue to work with it to make it less so. Your feedback is always helpful in that. To search the San Francisco book, go to http://directory.evendon.com and click on the link for the book. This will load the page list for the book in the left frame and will show you the title page in the main frame. At the top of the left frame is the search. The SEARCH SELECTOR is automatically set to search just that book at this point. So all that's needed is to enter a search string in the blank space. You may have to click in that space to enter the text. I suggest a surname, e.g. Whitaker. Then <enter> or click on "Search". The results will show up in the top frame. If you are in the 1908 book, you'll see a bunch of "hits". At the beginning of each "hit" is the page number where it was found and that page number is a live link. If you click on it, the page will show up in the main frame. I hope this is helpful. Please don't hesitate to post back. 3. The site is a treasure & is growing. I searched the 1908 SF directory for my GG-Aunt Frances REUBEN GAGE who I thought died in the 1906 quake. Guess what? She didn't! Now I need to learn when she died. Cheers, Jim Don Krieger wrote: >Dear Ruth, > >Thanks for posting back. The site is a bit complicated looking. I continue >to work with it to make it less so.
