Hello I am trying to track down which high school my Dad attended about 1920-26, he lived at 1853 Filbert St in 1924, and maybe later at 1401 13th St. I know he played sports in high school but his Mom threw out his trophies when they moved. I have a red Varsity felt "V" letter the type that is sewn on sweathers, also a star with an "A" within it, a orange and black patch with the letters "P.R.C.A" and yellow "2". Any ideas about the high school and what these patches mean? (If he didn't attend Mission High, could have he attened Gallieo or Lowell?) Thank you so much. Judging from the addresses: 1853 Filbert is less than a mile from Galileo and although could not find 13th st today, probably it was existing in earlier years and that would have put him at Mission. Check Yahoo maps for those addresses. Bill -----Original Message----- From: casanfra-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:casanfra-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of A.F. B. I know you asked about high schools, but when I tried googling "P.R.C.A san-francisco" (without the quotes), I came up with a lot of hits about the Rodeo, cowboys, bull riding. Eliminating those with the word "rodeo" gave me, among other things a P.R.C.A hat, as I recall. Was he into the rodeo or horses at all? A number of hits talk about Rodeo as a high school sport! According to wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_rodeo, though, it seems that PRCA didn't get used for that until 1945, so this may be totally off base: "In 1945, the Cowboy Turtles Association changed their name to the Rodeo Cowboys Association (RCA) which later in 1975 changed to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA)."
