Hello Holger, I have found a Joseph and Marie Beck in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 San Francisco census. You mention Joseph died in 1926 so perhaps this is the wrong family. Joseph is a barber working in his own shop. In the 1910 census they are listed with children Konrad, Heinrich and Thelpa. I saved the images of the census records. If you think this might be the correct family I would be happy to send the images to you by email. Let me know. I also searched www.newspaperarchive.com but did not find a match.
