    3. John Joseph McGough died in San Francisco Aug. 22, 1941. He died of a Fractured Skull. I am trying to determine what happened to cause this injury. At the time of his death he and his wife Mary Agnes resided at 35 Rauch St, SF. He was 70 at the time of his death, born in Troy, Rensselaer Co., NY to Owen McGough, an Irish Immigrant. Perhaps there is a news item in one of the SF newspapers regarding the cause of John McGough's death. He and wife are buried in Holy Cross Cem., in Colma. In 1894 John McGough (known as Jack) was involved in an attempted Murder in Troy. He shot William Ross, who survived. Bat Shea, a close friend of John, supposedly shot Robert Ross who died at the scene. Jack Casey, an Attorney and Writer in Troy, NY wrote a book about the crime, "The Trial of Bat Shea". On Election day that year the ballot boxes were stuffed to keep the Irish Catholic Democrats in office. The Protestant vigilantes tried to stop the voting fraus and a riot occurred. It's a fascinating tale, factual. Bat was executed at Dannemora, Clinton Co Prison in 1896 and it was proven before the execution that he was Innocent of the crime. John McGough was released from Prison about 1907. He married his sweetheart Mary Agnes Guinan in Troy, they had a child Owen John b. in Troy, 1909 who died in San Francisco Aug. 22, 2003. SF Public Lib. looked for an obituary for him in the two major newspapers there but there was none. I learned through correpondance with Holy Cross Cem., that his wife was Lillian McGough, who resided at 911 Lincoln Way, SF 94122, at the time of her husband's death. I will gladly pay a researcher to assist me. Deanna Palatine Bridge, NY

    3. Hi Deanna, I found several articles on www.newspaperarchive.com about the shooting. If you would like one or more of these just let me know. I'd be happy to download and email to you. So far, nothing about his death/injury or about his wife or son. But I'll keep looking.
