My father worked for Robinson's around 1900 and later Sells-Floto Circus and Hagenbeck-Wallace. Fifty years later he worked for Ringling. Bill- Do you know what years the ROBINSON Circus was in business & where they performed? I have been tyring to trace my ancestor, Major ROBINSON, who at age 21 in about 1870 left home to join a circus. His parents pleaded with him not to go but Major said that joining the circus was the only thing he could do. Major ROBINSON at maturity was just 31 inches tall & weighed 31 lbs. Family legend states that he was billed as "the smallest man in the world. I have not located Major on any census records but if he was travelling with a circus he may not have been enumerated.
