Hi, listers. I am writing to find out what is going on with my letter today. I am wondering what is wrong. Today, I received the letter to let me know that a researcher at San Mateo Vital Office could not find 2 records for birth for Leonard H. Davis and death for Maxine L McNamara, athough they are on the list of website for San Mateo County. See my references below at: http://www.sfgenealogy.com/sanmateo/smcgs/smcbirths.htm See Leonard H. Davis on the list above. I believe he is a cousin of my grandfather. Last Name First Name Middle Birth Date Mother Maiden Father Last Sex Birth Place Death Place Residence Death Date SSN Age Post-ems Order Record MCNAMARA MAXINE L 09/13/1916 F OREGON SAN MATEO 05/29/1972 546-26-8986 55 yrs Add Order a copy of the original certificate from RootsWeb.com She is a cousin of my grandfather, also. Why are they not be found, athough the names are on the list of website? Are the records missing? Are the names listed errorlessly ? I am puzzled. Thanks for your help and feedback! Adrienne
Davis should be a slam-dunk with the volume & page listed. Is this him? California Death Index, 1940-1997 <http://www.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=5180&enc=1> about Leonard Harold Davis Name: Leonard Harold Davis Social Security #: 552147574 Sex: MALE Birth Date: 27 Dec 1901 Birthplace: California Death Date: 27 Sep 1952 Death Place: San Francisco Mother's Maiden Name: Chavel FATHER'S SURNAME: Davis I checked on McNamara in Ancestry.com & it matched. You should have had a hit on both requests. I would call the Recorder. Jim A. Stefanik wrote: >Hi, listers. > >I am writing to find out what is going on with my letter today. I'm wondering if those older birth documents might have to be ordered through the San Mateo County Genealogical Society, whose website is where the birth listings are found. It seems the list is published by permission, which may mean SMCGS has jurisdiction over the document volumes.
