Hi list, I am hoping there may be another researcher out there connected to this line as I have had one heck of a time. My main "brick wall" is John Kelly...where he came from, who are is parents and siblings, what happened to him.... Anna Doud b: Bet. 1836-1840, Ire d/o Francis and Bridget Doud; Naturalized 1848, NY; Appears in the 1860 SF census with husband John Kelly b: Abt 1832 ("Irish Free State", Ireland), and daughters Jane (b:1855) and Mary (b:1857). Also listed in the household are Anna's parents Francis and Bridget Doud. 1867: Register o By 1870: - the parents Francis and Bridget are in Mendocino Co., CA. - John Kelly has disappeared (can not find any records) - Anna (Kelly) has re-married Michael O'Brien and they are found in the 1870 SF census with Jane (Kelly) 10, John (Kelly) 8, Terence (O'Brien) 3, Michael (O'Brien) 1 - Baby Mary Kelly from the 1860 census must have died as she is not in the 1870 census (can not find any records) 1880: - Michael (Mike) and Anne O'Brien are found in the 1880 SF census with Jennie (Jane Kelly) 20, John (Kelly) 18, Terry 13, Michael 11, Patrick 7, Luke 6, Margrett 4, Annie 2. 1900: - Michael O'Brien, Sr must have died as his wife Anna is head of household in the 1890 SF census. (10 children 8 living - I assume Mary Kelly is one of her deceased children, the other is unknown...not known if the child was from the Kelly or O'Brien marriage) - daughter Jane (Kelly) and husband Emmanuel Rodgers are living next door, son John 10 - Not sure of the location of John Kelly (son of Anne Doud, Kelly, O'Brien). Also note: John Kelly (s/o John and Anna Kelly) was said to have had a son John who played violin for a band/orchestra in the south bay area. I have an old family photograph of this John with his violin. I also have a photo circa 1905-1910 of John Kelly, his sister Jane Kelly-Rodgers, their mother Anna Doud-Kelly-O'Brien, and Jane's son John Rodgers. Have a picture circa 1900 of "Bridget Kelly and son John Flood"...looks like John to bet 5-10 years old, I believe the photo to be taken in front of the Rodgers on Rincon in SF. I'm not sure how this Bridget connects to my line. Old family photographs indicate the relationship between the Doud, Kelly, O'Brien lines. I would love to find out more on the Kelly line beginning with John Kelly (b: Abt 1832) it looks as though he would have married Anna Doud about 1853. His daughter Jane was born in 1855 in California, so we know they were in California at that time. Anna indicates she was naturalized in NY in 1848, so she moved to CA between 1848 and 1855. I'm not sure if she met John Kelly in NY or CA. John Kelly, Jr was born abt 1862. So, we know John, Sr didn't die (or was still around) until at least about 1861. Civil War records indicate Kelly, John, d. 12/11/1863, PVT H 1 CAL INF, Orig Bur Los Pinos Nm, Plot: L 133. This may be my John, but no definitive evidence. Since Anna has son, Terence (O'Brien) by 1867 we can assume she was married to Michael O'Brien no later than 1866. Anna being a devout Irish Catholic, this time frame makes sense. But, no hard evidence to prove this scenario. If this family sounds even remotely familiar to anyone, please contact me. I really would like to find out more about the Kelly line...any help is great...and anyone related to the O'Brien line, I have some family history on them too. Thanks everyone! Christine
