Hello, I'm trying to do some more research on this shooting on Jan. 13, 1899 All I can find are these two snippets from the Sac. Bee. I'm hoping someone might be able to find some more info in the SF Newspapers. Maybe closer to the date it happened maybe? I'm hoping to find a location of the shooting, photos or more info from the witnesses. If anyone has more access online than I do that would be so very helpful. Names interested in our: Thomas H. Kennedy, Mrs. Elizabeth Regan, and "Mrs. Johnson" or Mrs. Johnston as they call her here "KENNEDY--San Francisco, January 14, 1899- Thomas H. KENNEDY, a mounted policeman, was shot and killed yesterday afternoon [13 Jan 1899] by Mrs. Elizabeth REGAN, a widow. Mrs REGAN claims that KENNEDY called on her in the afternoon in a social way, and they became involved in a quarrel, and fearing harm at his hands, seized the officer's pistol and shot him in the mouth. KENNEDY died on his way to the hospital. Mrs. REGAN made another statement to the effect that the officer was living with her, and that he drew his pistol to intimidate her, and in the scuffle that followed she attempted to seize the weapon and that it discharged, inflicting the wound in the mouth." "KENNEDY--Mrs. Elizabeth REGAN, who killed Thomas KENNEDY at her home late yesterday afternoon, was exhonerated today by a Coroner's jury. Mrs. REGAN's sister, Mrs. JOHNSTON who witnessed the shooting, testified the weapon exploded during a struggle for the weapon. The jury returned a verdict that she acted in self defense."
