The Native Daughters of the Golden West (a fraternal organization founded in 1886 for women born in the state of California) began cataloguing pioneers born in or present in the state prior to 1870. The Roster has over 35,000 names. The Index has been recently updated; the first major update since 2002 cross-referencing duplicates and adding supplemental information.
