    1. [CASANFRA] San Francisco Independent Tuesday 17 July 2001 Matthew Brady Column/WIELLAND & COSBIE
    2. George Rushton
    3. This was in Matthew Brady's Column of July 17 2001. In it he mentions John Wieland and William Cosbie When the John Wieland Brewing Company, at 228 Mission Street, needed a new harness in 1888 for the six splendid stallions that pulled one of its wagons, it called on William Cosbis, who had been manufacturing leather yokes in San Francisco Since 1864. At a cost of $1,500 Cosbie delivered a thing of beauty, decorated with 160 silver letters, 50 beer-barrel ornaments, and 8.500 silver-headed studs. The six pairs of hames, trimmed with miniature silver kegs, were hung with handsome bearskins. A few notes: 1) I know nothing more that this. 2) The last time I checked he did not have a e-mail address. 3) So to get hold of him you can e-mail the paper at <letters@sfindependent.com> or call them at 415 826 1100 4) As to how much help he will be I do not know. For a number of months ago I gave him some informantion, one of them being on a story that he had ran with some more information on it, which a ran and did not either mention where he got or thank me. The other two he did run, so again how much help he will be I DO NOT KNOW. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
