    2. Whoa what a great question! We have info which states: "SOUNDEX FACTS - 1880 - Since Social Security people were only interested in people who would turn 65 after the system became operative, they only had to consider people born after 1870. Since people born prior to 1870 would be 65 before the system started, they could be IGNORED. Therefore, all states were SOUNDEXED in 1880, but only FAMILIES CONTAINING CHILDREN 10 YEARS OLD AND YOUNGER. HOWEVER!!!!!! The new set of 53 CD's "1880 United States Census and National Index" that the LDS just released (several of us have copies) seems to included these families!!!! Can I look for someone for you?
