Hello list, A real nice person on this list found my KERR family in the 1900 census. I've been looking for any records availble trying to find out more about my great granduncle, "Ignatius A. Kerr". He was married to Martha Frances Banachowshi when he died at the age of 47 on November 11, 1932. The 1900 census record finally gave his correct age. He was born on August 1, 1885 in San Francisco. I found Ignatius Kerr twice in old directories. He was listed twice in 1917, apparently trying to advertise his occupation as a "marine engineer". He also appears in 1913 living at his father, Mathew Kerr's house on 16th Street. Ignatius Kerr is not listed in the 1919 Directory and it just occurred to me that he too may have joined WWI with my grandfather. However, was the age of 33 too old to join the U.S. Army? My grandfather was discharged from the U.S. Army as a totally disabled veteran in January of 1919. Ignatius Kerr died of an condition/illness that had a date of onset "prior to 1920" according to his death certificate. I am now wondering - was he too in WWI? If anyone finds a record of Ignatius Kerr after 1919 please let me know. I am wondering if he was married at this time and also where was he living. For a very long time he lived with his father Mathew Kerr on 16th Street, but was later in life found married to Martha Banachowski and living with her and her father (John Banachowski who later changed his surname to a simplified "Banner") on Dolores Street. At the end of his life he was back living on 16th Street. I have obits. on both Ignatius Kerr & Martha Kerr (nee Banachowski). I was hoping someone may have access to a later record of Ignatius (after 1920). He was a "marine engineer" and he was a member of several societies - from obit.: "A member of San Pedro Lodge, No. 966, B. P. O. Elks, and Castro Parlor, No. 232, N. S. G. W., and of the Holy Name Society of Mission Dolores Church." No this is not a duplicate query - several members of my family were affiliated with this same set of societies, including I.O.O.F. & many of the names which appear to be duplicates are not. Thanks for any help trying to find out more about my uncle Ignatius Kerr.
