Shotwell Street Primary School, Historical Sketch , SF Muni Report 1879-80 This school is located on Shotwell street, between Twenty-second and Twenty-third streets, in a two-story wooden building, containing eight pleasantly arranged class-rooms. The number of pupils at present in attendance, is four hundred and seventy-four. This school was first opened in July, 1867, as a mixed Grammar and Primary School, but in February, 1872, the Grammar pupils were transferred with their Principal and teachers to the Valencia Street Grammar School, when the Shotwell Street School was reorganized as a Primary School under the charge of Miss Annie A.
