Union Primary School, Historical Sketch, SF Muni Report 1879-80 This school is located on al elevated site on the northwest corner of Filbert and Kearny streets, in a pleasant two-story wooden building containing eight commodious rooms. It is a mixed school for boys and girls, and has an attendance of four hundred and seventy-two pupils. This school was instituted in a rented building on the corner of Union and Kearny streets, January 3, 1865. Mrs. Aurelia GRIFFITH, who was elected the first Principal of this school in June, 1865, still has charge of it. ---------------------- Carolyn
