Hayes Valley Primary School, Historical Sketch, SF Muni Report 1879-80 This school is located on Grove street, between Larkin and Polk streets, in a two-story wooden building, containing nine poorly arranged rooms. At present there are eight hundred and thirty-eight pupils in attendance, including about three hundred and twenty in outside rooms. This school was instituted in May, 1863 The following teachers have been Principals of this school: Miss. H. B. CUSHING, elected January, 1863 Miss L. J. MASTIC, elected May, 1864 Miss P. M.
