    3. I had Pope family in the Marin area near San Francisco, Oakland, San Mateo and Alameda. The names were Caryl Tolin Pope married Willetta Thorton Sullivan Pope. The children: Cam Pope, David Campbell Pope, John Thomas Pope and Peter Thorton Pope. If any one hss any info on these people it would be deeply appreciated. I'm also looking for information on Grace L. Lehr (also Grace L Lehr Drum Cantin who died 5 Apr 1965 at St Agnews State Hospital. Is there any way to get records from there? In 1948 to 1953 Grace managed the Nine Fifty Franklin Apartments on 950 Franklin Street in San Francisco, CA. Can anyone tell me any info about the apartments and to go about researching her working there and living there? At a brick wall. I think she went by the name of Grace L. Drum while living there. In 1941 she managed the Somerset Apartments on 1111 Pine Street in San Francisco, CA. The parents of Grace lehr were Frank and Laura (Rawson) and lived in San Mateo. Frank was an accountant in the early 1940's. Thank You. 2. hi- my mom's cousin was adoped by mom's great aunt. (rumor had it my grandmom was her bio. mom and she was adopted within the family) All persons involved in the adoption died years ago. ( the last one in the 1960's) I contacted Sacto Adoption Center for the state- was given an address to write to to request copies of the adoption papers and info. I included copies of death certs for all parties involved. They stood firm in the ruling stating a letter of request must come from the adotpee and any bio. siblings before the info will be released. The adoptee died in the early 50's. I have never been able to prove the family rumor that my mom's cousin was actually her sister. Good luck to you! 3. I have the same kind of problem. My GGGrandfather came to San Francisco in 1852 and I have his son's death certificate listing him as father and mother unknown. Family lore says she died shortly after arriving and the kids were all placed in the care of the State after he took off on another adventure. This is a brick wall that I have been completely unable to break through. -----Original Message----- From: casanfra-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:casanfra-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of James P. 3. Hi, Sandra... I've obtained several birth (and death) certificates from San Francisco. There is no charge if ordering directly from San Francisco. In person is the fastest way, of course. I've never waited longer than 1 hour, ever, when requesting in person. By mail, however, I recently waited 6 months for receipt of the certificate. The time delay by mail has been lengthened because of the recent change in federal law regarding passport issue, which has inundated these types of services at the county level especially. Good luck... 3. We have a new indexing project. Have you ever wanted to be part of an indexing project but didn't want to commit a lot of time, be on a deadline, or have to type a lot? Well, this project may be just for you. :) It's also for anyone who doesn't mind spending a lot of time and loves to type. :) As everyone may or may not know, Researchity.com was given the mortuary records from "Halsted N. Gray Carew & English" (the oldest and largest mortuary in San Francisco) back in 2006. Two of the larger collections, Halsted and N. Gray have been digitized by the LDS. The images from Halsted have now been posted at SFgenealogy and are ready to be indexed. There are quite a few of them and they are fascinating to read. If you are interested in helping with this project, please go to the web page and read the tutorial first before registering: http://www.sfgenealogy.net/mip/ After these records are indexed, the index and images will be available to the public for free. Thank you! Ron Filion and Pamela Storm SFgenealogy
