    3. Christine I checked this site <http://www.mapquest.com/> and if you only put in the address of what you are looking for you can get a aerial photo of the location. It still looks residential, and I was out in that area a few years ago there were nice houses there. To find out what is there you can also look or have someone look in the Reversed Directory for San Francisco, and that will tell you what is there. George p.s. Palou, was named for a Spanish Father, on if not the first trip to San Francisco, it was one of the first. --- Christine Moody <clmoody@avci.net> wrote: > Hello, > Is anyone familiar with Palou Avenue. 3. Hi Christine, Palou Ave is still on the current San Francisco Map. Don't know how familiar you are with SF... so here is a rough.... this street is sorta near Hunters Point, Candlestick Park (both on SF Bay), Cow Palace, and McLaren Park -- roughly. I'm sure there are others natives who can do a better job here. Ray??? Is Brogan Mary Evelyn's maiden name or married name? - I don't find her on either of these sites: CABI (California Birth Index) http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ca/birth/search.cgi CADI (California Death Index) http://vitals.rootsweb.com/ca/death/search.cgi Hope this helps a little tiny bit... 3. Historical Sketch- Union Grammar School- SF Muni Report 1879-80 This school occupies a beautiful and commanding position on Telegraph Hill. This is a fine ten-class brick building, and at present accommodates four hundred and seventy-five boys. This school was first instituted on the 17th day of June, 1852, in a rough wooden building on the corner of Montgomery and Broadway, and was then called the " Clark's Point School". It was removed in 1853 to a rented building at the corner of Dupont and Broadway streets, where it remained till 1854, when it was transferred to its present location on Union street. This school was first organized as a mixed school for boys and girls, but in June, 1868, the sexes were separated, and the girls were transferred to the Broadway school. This school has been under the charge of the following Principals: A. HOLMES, elected June, 1852 Wm. HAMMILL, elected November 25, 1852 Ahira HOLMES, re-elected January 7, 1858 Thomas S. MYRICK, elected January 3, 1860 Philip PRIOR, elected June 18, 1869 Charles F. TRUE, elected December 29, 1874 In February, 1877, girls were again admitted to the school. During the year 1879, on account of the smallness of the classes in the four grammar schools situated in the northern part of the city, the grammar grades, except the fourth grade, were transferred from this school to other grammar schools, thus reducing this school from a grammar to a primary school. In May, 1880, the grammar grades were ordered transferred back to the school, thus restoring it to the rank of a grammar school. --------- Carolyn

    3. Hi there I am wondering if anyone knows anything about DIANE LYNN BUGNATTO maiden name DIANE LYNN LAWSON born June 7, 1949 in Santa Cruz. Her father ROBERT LAWSON was my father's first cousin and was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada in 1915. Her grandmother DONALDA LAWSON born 1890 in Manitoba, Canada (maiden name MCCANNELL) was sister to my grandmother ELLEN ANN DAVIS born in 1876 in Ontario, Canada (maiden name MCCANNELL). Diane would be my second cousin and her daughters Tracey and Cassandra would be my daughter's third cousins. Diane's grandfather THOMAS LAWSON married to DONALDA MCCANNELL in Vancouver BC (where I live) started a Buick car dealership in Watsonville, California. I am also interested in contacting Diane's brother WILLIAM SONDAG LAWSON born 1947 and their cousin LANE STAFFORD LAWSON born 1947 to see if they are in any way interested in my sharing the family MCANNELL history I have with them. Any information would be appreciated and I thank you for reading this. Judy in Canada

    3. Hi Margaret. I tried to track down records of individuals born at the Adler Sanitarium, but without any luck. Records from this institution no longer seem to exist. Details on Aaron Adler can be found in his obituary, which ran in the Chronicle on April 10, 1919, page 11. (There's also an article on his will in the Examiner, April 24, 1919, page 14.) His wife, Esther, died in 1945 - her obit ran in the Chronicle on Sept. 29, 1945, page 7. I have a photocopy of a brief, ten-paragraph article about the Adlers from the SFPL's vertical files. It's undated, but I'd be happy to scan it and e-mail it to you, if you like.
