    1. [CASANFRA] 1930 Census Release
    2. Linda Emerson
    3. Here's some good news to end the year... may 2002 be a better one for all of us! Release of the 1930 U.S. Census The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration will release the 1930 Federal population census for the first time on April 1, 2002. At that time, the microfilmed copies will be available for research at the National Archives Building in Washington, DC, at 13 of the National Archives regional facilities across the nation, and through the National Archives rental program. The 1930 census is the 15th Federal census mandated by the U.S. Constitution, which states, "The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct...". The 1930 census consists of 2,667 rolls of population schedules and 1,587 rolls of Soundex indexes for 12 southern states, totaling 4,254 rolls. Even though the statistical summaries collected by enumerators are made public shortly after the census is taken, information on individuals and families is restricted by law for privacy reasons for 72 years. [92 Stat. 915; Public Law 95-416; October 5, 1978]. 1. [CASANFRA] In, 1856, would you have brought meat from J.W. Whaling.
    2. George Rushton
    3. In the 1854 San Francisco city directory, J.W. Whaling, was listed as the County Coroner, in the Jan 1856 one is a co-owner of the Whaling and Kent Undertakers, with Horace J. Kent, also now the County Coroner. But in the Oct. 1856, one, Mr. Whaling is now listed as a butcher, not sure if I would of brought a beef roast from him. ;-) George _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.

    3. Patti I found a Victor L. HENRY, in the 1939, S.F. City Directory, living at 42 Lower Terrace, listed as a gardener. In the 1938, one, there is a Victor HENRY, living at 427 9th, no job listed. Will check the early ones in the 30's to see if he is listed, and see if we can get a first name of his wife. So that the PRE 1940 C.A.D.I., can be checked to find her date of death. 2. Pattee
    3. Hi All, I just joined the list and desperately need some suggestions and help. I don't know where else to look and need some new avenues to try. My father's older brother Victor Lawrence Henry left TN back in the 1930's. He wrote home 2 times and in his letter's he said he had married, came home from work and found his wife dead and he had a daughter. Victor died in OR and until very recently it was believed he died in Portland, OR. (The funeral home notified my grandfather, but he never replied.) I just received a copy of Victor's death certificate and located a newspaper article about his death. Per the newspaper article it stated he had been a resident of San Francisco, CA. (Daddy only knew he had gone to CA) I do not know his wife's or daughter's names. Victor died July 3, 1939 and had been in OR a few weeks prior to his death. I believe his wife's family may have raised his daughter and his wife had died shortly before his leaving CA. I'm trying to locate his daughter. I'm quite sure no one ever learned of his death in CA. I know if it was me I would like to know what happened to my daddy. I believe his daughter was born bet. 1937-1939. any suggestions or help would be deeply appreciated. I've tried everything I can possible think of to locate her and I feel I'm close. I've got several of my branches back to the early 1700's, but this is harder. Thanks and good hunting to all. I hope everyone has a safe and good New Year. Patti

A member of the list offered to do this lookup for me 2 months ago, but I haven't heard from him since early December and his Yahoo email address is no longer in service. I hope that he is OK. Is there anyone else who would be willing to help me? I'm willing to compensate for time and/or materials as I live in Philadelphia, PA. Thank you, Allison Ector

    1. Re: [CASANFRA] Re: Antone Sylva
    2. Carolyn Feroben
    3. Hi Linda- I knew that name sounded familiar------------There was an Antone Sylva dairy farm in Santa Cruz County.............. The coast road dairies above Wilder's are those of Ed. Anderson, Pio Scaroni, Antone SyIva, Joseph Enright, T. Respini, Moretti J. Filippi, A. Gianonnii and C. Lombardi. Beyond Wilder's, in a snug little valley which is the outlet of Eagle Glen, a picturesque, cliff-bounded canon where Cojo Creek cuts down to the ocean, is a typical small dairy. Mr. and Mrs. Antone Sylva have given their 180 acre ranch the name of Eagle Glen Dairy, and a more thoroughly kept and well arranged place it wouId be hard to find. They have occupied the place twenty years, have built them a pleasant home, with plenty of western windows looking out upon the sea, and Mrs. SyIva's excellent taste and loving care have made her flower garden the admiration of all visitors and passers-by. Forty cows are milked, and their product is all manufactured into butter, which has a first-class reputation for quality. The city pipe-line crosses the farm and provides ample water-power for churning, etc. Electricity will soon be introduced. Then comes Supervisor Enright's cheese dairy. Genial Joe Enright is a general favorite, especially with his neighbors along the "Coast Road." He has served his district well as Supervisor, and the improvement in grades, bridges and roads has been general. http://www.santacruzpl.org/history/work/dairy.shtml Carolyn Linda Emerson wrote: > Adrienne... > > Did you Antone Sylva have anything to do with dairy farming?
