Hi Adrienne, I stand corrected by my 80 year old mother who was also raised in San Francisco.Colma and daly City were around at the turn of the century although they were very small places.I should have remembered that the actual bar at O'Malley's Bar in Colma was made about the same time as its sister bar at the Little Shamrock in S.F. that celebrated it's 100th anniversary in 1990.If anyone wants to have a strange but good time, visit O'Malley's -it had live old ragtime music and you can dance and sing to the folks sleeping across the way in Holy Cross. I don't know why you can't find Antone on the census - wish I could help you on that but don't know what to say to help. Miriam __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi Adrienne, I just sent an email that ,thinking about it again,I don't think is quite correct.Colma may have been there but I still don't think Daly City was.You might want to check other towns such as Montara and possibly Pacifica although, once again, I don't know if they were formed at that time. Is there anything in Colma besides cemetaries, tombstone companies and a great saloon across from Holy Cross? Miriam --- ADRIENNE STEFANIK <HATTULA1902@msn.com> wrote: > Hello everyone. I may be wrong(but don't think so) but I don't think that either Colma or Daly City were towns in that time zone.Colma was probably pasture land and Daly City was probably sand dunes. No, there was no fire in Daly City or Colma and those records might be found at the San Mateo County Center in Redwood City. Here is their site. http://www.care.co.sanmateo.ca.us/contact.htm You can write the County Clerk at countyclerk@care.co.sanmateo.ca.us Bill ADRIENNE STEFANIK wrote: > > Hello everyone. Hello everyone. I learned something new from my professional researcher. It is part information about SF. My great great grandparents probably lived in Daly City or Colma area. Any suggestions, I'm trying to find information on my Ggrandfather's brother. John J. Bray is listed in his mother's obit (27 Apr 1935 San Francisco) as Dr. John Bray. I'd like to know what kind of doctor he was. John Bray was born 6 Oct 1891 in San Francisco to Henry Thomas Bray and Mary E. Barrett. John was the youngest of Henry's 12 children. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Michelle
Is anyone familiar with a photography studio or photographer named J.W. Baker? The address would be 1028 Market St. (San Francisco). I found this written on the bottom (front side) of a photo (circa 1900-1920). Lisa
I have some old photos that my grandmother saved from the Earthquake and Fire in 1906 that were taken at JW Baker. These were mostly taken in the 1890s. Unfortunately none are identified. But at that time the studio was at 18 - 3rd Street. Of course all was lost in the fire after the earthquake. Bur perhaps Baker started up again. Someone with access to the San Francisco Directories from 1900 on could tell better. "rwalker" > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Subject: [CASANFRA] J.W. Does anyone know how to determine what school a child might have gone to in the 1880's if you know the address where the family lived? Thanks so much. Suzanne

Hi. I need your help to look up addresses for Catholic Cemeteries of San Leandro area only. I learned that there are many Portugueses are buried in San Leandro. Please check on IOOF also. Online Yellowpages do not help. With your help is greatly appreciatted. Thank you so much. Adrienne Get more from the Web. FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com
The Oakland Library has an Obit lookup service also. If I remember correctly they charge $2 per lookup and it is best to send a SASE with your request giving the full names and Date of Death. You can check for any updates on this link: Oakland History Room of the Oakland Public Library The San Francisco Department of Health asks that people make reservations when coming in to "research" in house. The office is rather crowded and an extra body does hamper their activities. Death Records Department 101 Grove Street, Room 105 San Francisco, CA 94102 (415) 554-2710 May I suggest that you check the online CADI for your people and then just visit the Dept. of Health, order and pickup the certificates. This would only take about a half hour and you are on your way for more fun things to do in San Francisco! CA Death Records Have fun on your visit!

My mother was raised in San Francisco and told me when she was young she used to go to meetings in a log cabin in Golden Gate Park with her grandmother. I'm not certain of the name of the group but it was something like Native Pioneers. Does anyone know anything about this group and where I might be able to find more information? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Jan
