    1. Re: [CASANFRA] Marriage record - 1904
    2. A. Mason Design
    3. Hi Maryann, A remote possibility is that there was an announcement in the hometown newspaper of the parents. Among the various postings from old newspapers that have appeared on this list, I've noticed that occasionally a San Francisco marriage has been written up in counties distant from San Francisco. On the other hand, if you are hoping the marriage record will tell you who the parents are and where they were living at the time of the marriage, the above information is not much help. Hope this helps, Anita C. Monterey County swigartj wrote: > > Hello. I am new to this list and know that marriage records for 1904 > were most probably lost in the 1906 fire. 3. The Mormon Tavern in El Dorado County remained until the early 1960s when the El Dorado County fire department burned it down to build the present alignment of Hwy 50. (That is, of course, the standard preservation mechanism in this county of the gold discovery site. We would never want anyone to think we're sentimental about our historic spots...) I'm sure Mormon Gold by J. Kenneth Davies would be of interest to anyone studying Mormon settlement and travels before, during and after the gold rush. As far as the roadhouses in our county, we have found his information to be fairly reliable. 3. My name is Eileen Martello Gillette. I have over a dozen relatives buried in what used to be Pacheco Cemetery (now called Seasons), in Contra Costa County, CA. If you have relatives buried there, please contact me. I am trying to put together a complete burial list for the cemetery and want to be sure as many people as can be identified are included. I visit there several times a year, so if anyone would like me to check on their relatives graves or take pictures, I would be happy to do that, too. Just let me know. Please provide the basic information: 1) Full name 2) Date of birth and place of birth or age at time of death if date of birth unknown 3) Date of death and place of death 4) Type of burial (i.e.. regular or cremated) 5) Your contact information so others who are descendants can make contact with you If you have any questions, contact me off list at bgeg@directcon.net I have sent this to most of the California lists so some of you may get this more than once. 3. Carolyn, I checked HISTORIC SPOTS IN CALIFORNIA -4th Edition - 1990. The one sentence write up on MORMON BAR (SRL 323) is the same as what you have there from Gudde - except it says ".....was first settled in 1849 by Mormons". While checking the index for MORMON BAR I ran across MORMON TAVERN - I thought for a minute there might be a connection...... but then found the TAVERN was in El Dorado County... 3. Hi Patty- Great timing of your message----I am in pursuit of some information on the Mormons who came to Mariposa County in 1848! Can you see if there is any mention of a group of Mormons coming to Mariposa County in 1848 ? We have a location here called "Mormon Bar". The only information I have found on the history of this site regarding the Mormons who came here is from Gudde- it mentions only "Gold was discovered here in 1848 by Mormons, who left soon afterwards for Salt Lake City". Thanks for the lookup!!:-) Carolyn http://www.cagenweb.com/mariposa/ Patty Delgado wrote: > I would be happy to look for information in: > > "California Saints: a 150-Year Legacy In The Golden State" by Richard O.
