    1. [CASANFRA] Where to write for Death Certificates
    2. Richard Malatzky
    3. I have a Thomas Carey who died May 16, 1906 San Francisco County. I don't think that there is anyone who transcribes Death Certificates for San Franciscoi County on the CADI Mailing List so I need to write for a Death Certificate. Where do I write in San Francisco County and how much does it cost? Sincerely Richard Malatzky

    1. [CASANFRA] Partial Transcription for 1870 census for San Francisco County - (1st Ward)....
    2. Edward A. Black, Sr.
    3. I just completed transcribing the first 120 pages for the 1st Ward in the 1870 Census for San Francisco County, CA and have it online. It is my hope that it will help a lot of people. I believe from "http://americahurrah.com/SanFrancisco/VotingWards.htm" that the 1st Ward is likely located in an area bounded by Kearny St. and Washington St. and the San Francisco Bay...in northeastern San Francisco [near today's Financial District?]. I believe this part of San Francisco was distroyed in 1906 in the aftermath of the Great Quake of 1906 by the fire that distroyed much of San Francisco. I am now continuing the transcribing of the 1st Ward, and will follow it with the 2nd Ward on thru the 12th Ward. This will likely take many months to complete, but I will periodically inform as to its status. As can be imagined, this is going to be quite a task, but well worth it to me, knowing so many will be helped... The 1870 San Francisco County (1st Ward) Census transcription will be located at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/ca/sanfrancisco/1870/ed39/sanfrancisco/ward01/ It is my belief that this will help researchers a lot. Sincerely, Edward A. Black, Sr. [a native of Alameda County, born in Oakland]

I accomplished that when I completed Tomalas & Sausalito Townships and provided the list of Indians, which were seperated.... *** The 1870 Marin Census transcription is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/ca/marin/1870/ Proofreading is still ongoing and should be completed in the near future with much thanks to Cathy of the Marin Genealogical Society. 1. [CASANFRA] Re: CASANFRA-D Digest V02 #94
    2. This message is for Maryann Swigert, and Patti: I have checked LDS microfilm #974,858 and found the marriage that Maryann was looking for, but not Patti's. Perhaps she would like to check out the film herself. It is handwritten and alphabetized by first letter only, so I could have missed Alois and Florence Brunn. The film has Re-recorded marriages from 1860-1873 (typewritten); and Index to San Francisco Marriage Licenses 1904-1906. This is handwritten, and is the last book on the film. The opening page reads: "Book opened Sep 1, 1905 - Closed April 17, 1906. All marriage licenses left at this office for recording from April 7- April 16 (inclusive) were destroyed by fire April 18, 1906." Fortunately this index survived, even those the certificates burned. (I was fortunate to find a marriage entry here my own research.) "William K Mordock and Estelle ? Dunford Oct 17, 1905 in San Francisco by F W Sampett Book 146 pg 233" This entry is on page 121 under the "Male" entries. Interestingly enough, under the "Female" entries, they entered his name first - as William K Dunford married to Estell Dunford. (Must have been a Friday afternoon - late!) Barbara in So Calif

    1. Re: [CASANFRA] Treasure Island
    2. Treasure Island is about 1 mile long, 2.25 miles east-northeast of North Point in San Francisco Bay. The feature is connected to Yerba Buena Island by a cause-way. The island was built from 1936 to 1938 by pumping sand and mud dredged from the bay into an enclosure formed by a rock retaining wall; it was used for Goden Gate International Exposition in 1939 and 1940, and it became a navy installation during World War II. 3. Hi there In 1938 my grandmother's sister and her husband ELIZABETH 'LIBBIE' AND HARRY SPEAR lived at 1196 Broadway St., San Francisco. There son ROY SPEAR and his wife FRANCIS and their daughters Bette and Donny lived across the street. Does anyone have a directory to look up ROY'S address? Is it possible to find out how long both families lived at these addresses? In 1938 would they have lived in houses or apartmenets there? What kind of an area was it? I have found the street on a map. The family is below. Thanks for reading this. 1. [CASANFRA] query - Robert Emmett Pearson - author, journalist, and historian for the Navy
    2. Greetings, I have been trying to locate children / relatives / friends of this man. Robert Emmett Pearson was born in Minnesota in 1923. His parents were Emmett V Pearson and Cathryn Sullivan Pearson (both born in Minnesota and moved to Northern California sometime in the 1920s or 1930s). I knew his parents very well. I have letters, cards, and mortuary and newspaper obits for both Emmett V. and Robert Emmett Pearson. Emmett V. died in Southern California in 1966 where he and his wife were living at the time. Cathryn Sullivan Pearson sent me letters and cards from the time I was very little (1949) to the 1970s. She died in Northern California in 1982. She and her husband are buried in San Diego. Robert Emmett Pearson had a daughter named Cathryn Pearson, born around 1954, 1955, or 1956. Her nickname was Kitty. Robert Emmett Pearson had a son named Robert Pearson, born around 1956, 1957, 1958 (nicknamed Bobby). The children's mother's name was Tina, but I have no maiden name for her. They were divorced in the 1960s, and she and the children moved to Northern California. Since I have just discovered these websites, I am hoping someone knows of this family since Robert Emmett Pearson lived in Southern California at his death in 1969 and is buried there. Robert Emmett Pearson was a journalist for the Pacific Palisades newspaper in the 1960s. He was an editor for the Seabees yearbook at one time. He wrote a non-fiction book that was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. He wrote stories for True West magazine. He was an historian for the Navy and went to Viet Nam in the fall of 1968. He died the next February. His wife at that time was named Jane. I would be most appreciative to receive any information regarding Robert Emmett Pearson or his family. Thank you, Carol Calif native in VA
