    1. [CASANFRA] Peek A Booi Kiddie Park ( San Pablo, California)
    2. Hello list- I was advised to post my query on this list, because some people are interested in researching old amusemnt parks. Peek a Boo Kiddie Park was once located at the intersection of San Pablo Dam Rd and San Pablo Ave, Probably from 1955-to about 1967. My grandmother took me there as a child, three or 4 yrs old. I wonder if anyone recalls this litltle park. It had ponies, swings , a Merry go round and other circular rides. Around 1967 My grandmother told me about the litle parks demise, how vandals got into the equipment , vandalized and let the ponies out inthe street, theman could not make a profit, anymore. I wonder if she read the story in a article from the paper, Does anyone remember a article. or when the land and wqupment sold. Does anyone remember going there and have memories, willing to share?? I still recall the park. in my minds eye, probably because of my grandmas stories and the last time I gazed at the place, when I was 16. I am 51 now. Melodee Slaney melnsam123@aol.com

    3. Hi Cindy - Here is a voter registration (Foreign born Voters) site for 1872... http://feefhs.org/cgi-bin/w4ais This San Francisco Call Data Base lists only the Foreign born voter but when you get the copy from Jim F, the page has the non foreign born voters also listed. Can't hurt to look for you family here and see what pops up. I have Voter Registrations for my family that came from the CA room at the State Library, in Sacramento for: 1890, 1892, 1896, 1898, 1900 & 1909 - You might want to go to this web site: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~yvonne/NORCAL%20index/ select Table of Contents - then select Voting Records - here you will find a complete story on what years had these Voting Records and where they can be found. Luck! 1. [CASANFRA] Peek a Boo Kiddie Park( San Pablo, California)
    2. Hello List- I am researching the Peek a Boo Kiddie Park that was once Located at the intersection of San Pablo Dam Rd and San Pablo Ave, San Pablo( Now is Moose lodge, South Parking lot) I had gone there, with my grandmother in the 1950 S and remember seeing it last, say 1967 or 1968. My question is I would like to know when the park cease its operation. My grandmother, now deceased had spoken about its demise, to me, she said vandals had gotten in , let the ponies lose, and were killed. also the machinery was defaced. I asume she had read it in the Richmond Independent. I wonder if any one recalls a article or knew about the closure and can validate information. This was my favorite place to go with my grandmother when I was young and probably her stories of taking us still brings fresh pictures in my mind of the once small park. I can still see the Ponies, the Swings and Merrygo Round. If anyone knew who owned the park, was it rented or was it a mom and pop, operation. I know it was a good 40 to 45 years ago. but I thought someone might recall memories. I am 51 years old, but still a kid in heart. Thanks. Melodee Slaney melnsam123@aol.com

    3. Karen, you might try looking at Griffith's Valuation Index of Ireland to find any Hubert Wards(maybe his father's or uncle's name). There is also the Great San Francisco Registry of 1890 where you might find the Ward family if they were still alive that year. 1. [CASANFRA] Ward Family
    2. Karen Conley
    3. Hi List: I am searching for any information on Hubert and Annie Ward. I believe that these people may have been my great grandparents. Both were born in Ireland, Hubert around 1835 and Annie around 1839. Children were John, Henry, Annie, and possibly my grandmother, Ruth Ward, born in 1885. In the late 1880s, this family was living at 757 Harrison Street. My grandmother was adopted by a couple named Nicholas and Anna Ott after her parent's death around 1890. This Ott couple was living at 751 Harrison Street in 1889. In the 1870 Census, Hubert Ward was listed as a liquor dealer. Any info at all about this Ward family will be most appreciated. Thanks! Karen

    1. [CASANFRA] Elliott Family on San Francisco 1930 Census
    2. Cynthia A. Walker
    3. Good afternoon! I've just looked at about a hundred 1930 San Francisco census pages trying to find my Elliott family _somewhere_ on 14th Street. So far I haven't found mine, but in case anyone else is looking I did find an Arthur Elliot in District 233, Ancestry image 23 of 36. If anyone could look up this illusive address in a 1930 city directory I need a listing for Clayton Elliott. Someone please help save my eyesight! :-) Cindy in NC cwalker@camcomp.com

    2. Dear Listers , I would like to publicly thank George , for looking at all those directories and providing me with the details of Thomas Englands address changes etc . I certainly would not have been able to do it myself from Wales . I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the many other helpful people on this list for their assistance . Does anyone know if SF newspapers are available on microfilm at the LDS family history centres or a similar place ? Thankyou Best Wishes Carol in Wales

    3. I am seeking descendants or information relating to a Mrs. A.L. LOWRY who resided in San Francisco; daughter of James Polk MEDLEY of Petaluma who died 6 June 1924 as a result of an accident aboard the Steamer Gold at dock in Petaluma, CA. James is my gr-gr-gr Uncle, born in Lima, NY; served in the Civil War 1863-1865 and is buried in San Francisco National Cemetery. James also had two other children by a second marriage to Sonoma NEIL of Petaluma; a son Neil and a daughter Eileen BENSON who was also a resident of San Francisco (501 20th Ave in 1969) I am trying to piece together James life after his Civil War service.

    3. I have the Personal Name Index to the 1856 City directories of California. The index lists names taken from the 1856 directories of San Francisco, Sac., Stockton, Nevada City, Marysville and Tuolumne County- with separate listings for blacks and Chinese. Names are listed alpha, with reference to the directory where they can be found, page number, and the previous residence (when given). Too bad.........San Francisco directory did not give the previous location of residence............... Jacob SPECHT-SF directory, page 206 (The San Francisco Directory is COLVILLE'S 1856.1857. 3. Stella I have not heard back from the B.of A., but did check at the San Francisco Hall of Justice, and the wall where they have and name and dates of the police officers who had died in the line of duty. There were 11 from 1948 to 1958, thought that I would start a couple of years early just in case. Well of the 11; 3 died because of motorcycle accidents 3 died in a Bar either in a robbery, or in one case was shot accidently 3 in other types of robberies, but not in one where there were more than one man involved 1 hit or burned by a run away truck 1 in a car accident One interesting point I have a feeling that the Police Chief, and the other officers, were worried about Dec 30, 1957. For on that date in the last two years 1955 and 1956, and officer had died in the line of duty.
