Hello, I was wondering if anyone may have access to a better copy of a Census page than on Ancestry.com. I've been trying to read this one on Ancestry and can't really see anything. I'm not sure how they even transcribed it. George, My GG gfer was lost at sea bringing a group of Walechian miners to California around 1854. His widow remarried prior to 1860. I am hoping to find some tracks. I had a great-uncle lost at sea a bit later. His will was probated in San Francisco in 1884. The San Francisco Public Library - History Center today took possession of the mortuary records for these firms: Halsted & Co., N. Gray & Co., Gantner-Felder-Kenny, Godeau, and H.F. Suhr. These are pre-1920 records, with some for N. Gray going back to 1850. Some of these have indexes too. Of course, records between 1920 and 1985 are available from those nice folks over at researchity.com who are swimming in records. Halsted N. Gray-Carew & English have kept most of the current records for Halsted and N. Gray. Ron Filion sfgenealogy.com

I found marriage information about my family in SF at http://cefha.org/usa/ca/sf/sfcall/sfcalli.html. It cost me a small fee to get a copy of the 1883 SF Call marriage announcement, but it was well worth it. I was eventually able to track down and get a copy of the original, hand-written entry in Latin from the church records. --- [email protected] wrote: > > CASANFRA-D Digest Volume 06 : Issue 94 > > Today's Topics: > #1 Need some advise on a marriage rec [The > Schafers <[email protected]] > #2 Re: [CASANFRA] Need some advise on [mt view > <[email protected]>] > > Administrivia: > Visit San Francisco Genealogy at: > http://www.sfgenealogy.com > > To unsubscribe from CASANFRA-D, send a message to > [email protected] > that contains in the body of the message the command > unsubscribe > and no other text.
