    1. RE: [CASANFRA] Notre Dame des Victoires
    2. Ruth Skewis
    3. Hi Jeanne, A Google search http://www.google.com/ for "Notre Dame des Victoires" brought up 535,000 (or so) hits... Including the history of the church - and old and current pictures - very interesting. I've sent a few of these Google articles to a researcher in France, who was very pleased to learn about his ancestors house of worship. Perhaps after reading what Google offers, if you find you still have questions, you could write to the addresses that Pat gave you in the post below (that you replied to) Good luck, Ruth _______________________________ Ruth (Grady) Skewis [email protected] > -----Original Message----- > From: Jeanne Moore [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2006 1:21 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [CASANFRA] Notre Dame des Victoires > > My cousin who lives in San Rafael has been sending me some > very interesting historical information on Nortre Dame des > Victoires. 3. My cousin who lives in San Rafael has been sending me some very interesting historical information on Nortre Dame des Victoires. She is the grand daughter of my grandmother's sister, so her father and my mother were first cousins. He brother went to a family reunion and got marriage certificates for his grandparents and my grandparents - very interesting. His grandfather was one of the witnessess who stood up for my grandparents at their wedding. I'd like to find out more about this church. 2. Pat
    3. For Jeanne and Andre and others, There is a French National (Catholic) Church in San Francisco called Notre Dame des Victoires. People of French origin automatically belonged to that Church and usually attended Mass there rather than the Church in their Parish. It also had a grammar school and a high school and buses to collect students from all over the city. The high school has since closed, but the grammar school and Church are still functioning. The Church is at 566 Bush St. and school is right behind it at 659 Pine Street. Pat --------------------------------- Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football ’06 - Go with the leader. 1. Obituary for Cornelius Cronin
    2. Judith McConville
    3. Hello SF: I am researching CORNELIUS CRONIN, born 4/10/1895 in Ireland. I just "heard" from a family member that he was killed "on the docks". Apparently there was some "unrest" on the docks at the time. His brother, Jeremiah Cronin was listed as a longshoreman on his death certificate as well as another brother, George Cronin. I was hoping that there may be a obituary and/or article re: killing/unrest on docks. Thank you in advance, Judy His death date was11/29/1952. He was 57yo. --------------------------------- How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.

    3. Thanks--- this "old timer" has learned something from the newbie post! We can now get our vitals from the state office of vital records in a very reasonable amount of time--------- I just visited their site and see that they are saying an average 4 week turn around time------------ http://www.dhs.ca.gov/chs/ovr/ordercert.htm I guess closing the public counter has been part of the solution- Thanks for telling us!! 3. On the other hand, getting a piece of paper notorized at the bank or real estate office only takes a few minutes. Waiting for the state to send a certificate can take 6 months...or MORE! The only time I sent to the state, I waited 9 months....they had cashed my check within 1 month of receiving it, but did not send the certificate. After I sent a copy of the cashed check(both sides) and a pointed letter all inclosed in a registered letter, RRR, I got a note, apologizing for the delay, and a regret that my request could not be filled...no reason given. Oh, and the best part??? NO REFUND!! I now deal exclusively with vitalchek... 3. Order the informational copy of the death certificate, which does not require a notarized statement. The informational copy is identical to the certified copy, except it has "INFORMATIONAL, NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY" printed across it. The San Francisco Dept. of Public Health is not fast (usually 4-5 weeks), but it is faster than the state Dept. of Health Services in Sacramento (6-8 weeks). 3. Hi, Well you are right as far as one of them but actually no matter what name I put in for the 1880 year in CA nothing comes up. I tried all the really general names and I can't get anything to come up. I did actually get 1850 to come up. Maybe they haven't added 1880 for CA? Maybe it's my computer but I'd be curious if anyone could any name to come up for CA in 1880 Mortality index! I'll keep checking out! 3. Hi Rebekah, I know Ancestry has in online BUT only for some states. I think they only list about 25 or so and California is not on the list yet. That's why I was hoping someone had access to it. It will be a good thing when they actually do get it up but so far CA doesn't seem to be on there HOT list! :) > I'm still looking for my gggm in it, Elizabeth (Rachel) McLaughlin > d. It's a long story but an interesting one. :) The mortality schedule just might give me another clue for her crazy life! So if anyone has access I'm STILL interested! And thank you Rebekah for writing back, I too thought they had all the states but then I went to the list and found they are still working on or can't get the other states at this point. ________________________________________________________________________ ___ Here's her obit: McLAUGHLIN- In this city, April 9, Elizabeth, beloved wife of John L. I do not see Elizabeth in it though. Nor any other McLaughlin/Mc Laughlins in California. God Bless, Rebekah
