Chiapella was born in Los Angeles on Jan 1 1880, the son of S. E. an Eulalie (Pinta) Chiapella. S. E. had come to California in 1875. Dr. Chiapella is the eldest of three, the others are Edward E. and Stephen E. Aug 2 1911, he was married to Miss Raetta Colt, daughter of W. P. Colt. They had three sons: Karl J., Clyde P. and William. He died in Chico on April 20, 1966 at the age of 86.
