Just this correction (that is either the fault of the newspaper or the informant, not you)... Henry Louis STEINMEYER's biological parents are unknown. His 1900 census records shows he was born in Jun 1875 in CA, and his 1880 census record shows him as the adopted son of Frederick William STEINMEYER (b. 1828/9, Prussia) & Anna C. ECKMANN / ECKMAN (b. 1852, Hanover, Germany). Anna married second to William KLAESER, so the "Mrs. Emma KLAESER" named as Henry's mother in the obituary is Anna, not Emma, and she's his step-mother, not his mother. [Anna had no biological children with either husband.] Henry's wife was Annie M. SCHMIDT/SMITH, daughter of John SCHMIDT/SMITH & Wilhelmina MOHR of Holland and Franklin Twp., Sacramento Co., CA. For details and documentation, please see family group sheet at: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/FGS/S/SteinmeyerHenryLouis-AnnieMSchmidt.shtml Henry & Annie's son, Elmer A. STEINMEYER, married first to Eleanore CLEMENTZ, daughter of Frank CLEMENTZ, and second to Blanche E.M. MATTHIESEN-SORENSON, daughter of Peter Jensen MATTHIESEN & Avilde E. CHRISTENSEN (Alvilde married second to Capt. Emil SORENSEN, who apparently adopted Blanche because Blanche married as SORENSEN). Peter Jensen MATTHIESEN is my great-grandfather's brother, hence my interest, but as Henry STEINMEYER is not my ancestor and Elmer died without issue, I'm not pursuing this line further. But Henry's son, Fred, did have issue, so Henry's true parentage should be of interest to their descendants. Hopefully, court records of Henry's adoption in Sacramento Co., CA, will name his biological parents.
