Just yesterday, we got the U.S. census for 1900 and 1910 showing them in Sacramento area (Broderick). I see that it says 11 years married in 1900--and their oldest daughter was born in 1889. They cite coming to California in 1881--but H.S. Moddison (per his daughter Ruth's obituary) came earlier--70's. The marriage should be in approx. April or May 1889 since on the 5 May 1910 census it shows married 21 years. Sure seems the marriage was in Sacramento since her entire family was there farming. I appreciate that you would look further in County records but perhaps I should do more checking before I ask that---it seems a large job to go there.
