    3. Hi list, I appreciate for those with no connections it will not be all that relevant but for those with British ancestry, the Yesterdays site contains thousands of names of folks many of whom were strays or strangers, away from their recognised abode or expected parish. The Settlement Certificates and particularly the Settlement Examinations give a good account of what can be found in Record Offices and if you have any such overseas connections with the UK they are well worth the effort in trying to see if such a document(s) survives for your ancestors, particularly if they have "moved". It may be they are even within this list, but if not, it still gives a good idea of what can be found in their respective parishes and County Record Offices. Bastardy records may name the father, Apprenticeships let you know who the young lads and lasses went to serve, some as young as seven years. There may be instances of Apprentices running away because of cruelty by the Master. Removal documents record those folks who fell on hard times and were removed back to their last legal Settlement. Thousands were moved all over the Country. mike http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~spire/Yesterday/index.htm

Virtually all of the pre-1900 marriages are included in the index for Arizona , Idaho and Nevada . Many counties for those same states have been extracted into the 1930's and some, much later. A significant number of marriages from selected counties in California , western Colorado , Montana , Oregon , Utah , eastern Washington , and Wyoming are also included. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mjkent70@hotmail.com> To: <CASACRAM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 06, 2006 2:24 AM Subject: [CASacramento] Need Marriage Data Base for California > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Leonard Heile/ Hyle > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JW.2ADI/2201 > > Message Board Post: > > Looking for anyone who can inform me about a Data > > Base for Northern California Marriages. 2. Diane Cox
    3. According to a Sacramento City Directory from 1858-1860, my ggreat-grandfather James Blanchard was a saloon keeper in Sacramento at 178 K Street. I recently visited Old Town Sacramento and there is currently no such number. A visitor guide in Old Town suggested that the numbering of the streets had changed since the late 1850's. Does anyone have an idea where 178 K Street might have been? The directory also stated that he lived on L Street between 7th and 8th. I am also curious where that is or might have been. Thank you, Diane

    3. Crystal, your grandfather is NOT listed in the CADI, nor does he show in the Sacramento County death records. I took a chance and checked Sacramento Bee for a potential obituary but there didn't seem to be anything for him. Also checked the Lincoln News Messenger with negative results. Also checked the Auburn Journal with negative results. Also checked the Roseville Press Tribune - and FOUND him - He died in Las Vegas Nevada. Need your address to mail this obituary to, plus that of his sister. This may help you more. 3. I can check the dc if he died in Sacramento. Maybe he was visiting? The death index doesn't SAY Where he died, just where benefits were sent...but The CADI gives LARIMER CHARLES A 01/16/1917 M CALIFORNIA SACRAMENTO 10/27/1973 559-07-3410 56 yrs So he did die in Sacrmento County. DC will give exact location (ie hospital, home, etc.) Obit should give wife's name (though dc may as well) and children's names if there are any... I can check both for obit and also transcribe the dc. Let me know. I receive about 200 emails a day. I had a gentleman search for Charles A. Larimer's obituary, but he was unable to find one. I was especially interested in the two names you found on the CA birth index. Charles had a brother Roy E. Larimer who died in a very tragic accident in 1925, so it's very likely that the Roy E. Larimer who was born in 1957, and the brother, Charles Alan Larimer who was born in 1951 were indeed the sons of Charles A. Larimer. I really appreciate your help.
