He was born abt. 1820 in Va so I am told. He married a Mary Houk/Houck/Hanks? They had children, Issac (my g grandfather), Lorenzo, Louise(a)?, Maria. The family of Samuel was on the 1850 census for Urichsville, Ohio. They next appear on the 1870 census for Buchannan Co. Iowa. My ggrandfather, son of Isaac, Robert Lee Carter was born in Postville, Iowa. Have much on this line, but lots of missing information also. Any possible connection to yours?
