To: Frendlysky@aol.co Dear SKY!, My CARTER married a WOODARD. It just occurred to me that you might help me since you seem to have access to files that I don't have. Or maybe you could suggest the most precise way I might find the year of the demise of Carrie Belle Kellogg Woodard who I think prob. died abt 1879 in Jackson Co., Iowa. I'm still a new researcher and its hard to figure out the best resources. I've written to the Jackson Co Historical Society but can't afford to pay a genealogical researcher- so I can't get info from them. Silas and Carrie Belle Kellogg Woodard who were married in in Jackson Co., Iowa in 1877 Carrie Belle Kellogg. I wonder if he or other Woodards were in Jackson Co., by 1870 and are on the 1870 census there. I believe Carrie probably died about 1879 when her baby Carrie Phoebe Woodard prob. about 1879. I went to the national archives in Washington DC but ran out of time when I was there. By 1880 (per the census) Phoebes father, Silas Woodard was living in Custer County, Nebraska as a boarder with Arthur Squires family. His sister Jennie Woodard & her husband Thomas Lampman were living nearby with their 3 young children, Sila-6 yrs old, Carrie, 4 yrs. old and little John Lampman, 1 year old. Also in the same neighborhood lived two other familes, Adam Ash and his son James Ash. (maybe these Ash families were related to the Joseph Ash who later married Carrie Phoebe Woodard). But that same year- 1880 -Carrie Phoebe Woodard was a year old-in 1880 she was living with her maternal grandparents, Allen and Mary Kellogg and her 13 year old uncle Benjamin Kellogg in Jackson township, DesMoines County, Iowa. Thanks, friendly -sky! Hope you can help me.
