This is my first post to the list, have been watching, am now buried under a Huge pile of correspondace from the CARTER mail list. I am hoping to connect with someone who has knowledge of my gr gr grandfather he lived in Gibson Co TN. His name is Benjamin Carter, I estimate he was born abt 1807 in N.C. He married Rebecca Haynes, what little info I have on her is conflicting. A letter passed down to me by Benjamins grandson tells me that Rebeccas father was Henry Harrison Harris, from Hardeman Co Tn and that he died about age 40. Anderson Fleming LeRoy Greene b. 1831 m. Sarah Elizabeth Harris Amanda b. abt 1832 m. Andrew Holland Elizabeth b abt 1840 m. David C. Blankinship Elvira b. abt 1843 m. John Gill James Monroe b. abt ? m. Julia(?) "Ella" Carter Susan "Puss" b. abt ? m. John Scott I also seek information about LeRoy Greene Carter, Benjamin's son who married Sarah Elizabeth Harris in Gibson Co TN on 1 Feb 1863. They had 2 children that I know of, and probably more that I do not. They were, Lee Carter, who resided in the Memphis area before his death and Dora Selena Carter, Dora married John Edward Eudaly, dates unknown unfortunately. They had 4 children, both parents died in 1900, leaving the 4 children orphaned. Dora Selena died at age 31,she was my gr. grandmother. She is buried west of Dyersburg, in an old Methodist Ccemetry near the Forked Deer River. Because my grandmother was orphaned at a young age, little is known of the family.
