On Oct 31, 1972, in a letter answering a query from Kathryn and Glenn CARTER , Union County, OHIO Recorder, Lawrence B. Rhoads states: "Our records begin in 1820. The deed to Levi CARTER from Duncan McARTHUR is the first that we find to Levi. There were three deeds filed the same day, Nov 16, 1837 for 108 acres in V.M.S.3462. The first from Duncan McARTHUR to Levi CARTER then one from Levi CARTER and Elizabeth CARTER to Nathan WYETH, and one from WYETH to David DANFORTH, all for the same 108 acres. I checked the Probate court records and found the following marriage licenses between 1830 and 1951. The index for the marriage licenses only list the men's name. The following is what I found: Lemuel CARTER to Jemina ORAHOOD - 1831 Benjamin CARTER to Susan KIGER - 1831 Levi CARTER to Elizabeth ORAHOOD - 1831 Daniel CARTER to Hannah THOMPSON - 1835 Thomas CARTER to Amy CHAPMAN - 1835 Joseph CARTER to Ann WILSON - 1841 Ebenezer CARTER to Nancy DYSERT - 1841 Joseph CARTER to Polly Ann SIFORT - 1842 Cyrus CARTER to Elizabeth CHAPMAN - 1845 Israel CARTER to Sarah Jane SMITH - 1847 James CARTER to Annie POOLER -1852 Levi CARTER to Jane JONES - 1851" Hope this can be of help to someone, Barb
