" James, son of Peter and Ann Clarkson came to American soil and located in Essex County, VA in 1777. He was a weaver by trade, was married to Mary Adams, June 14, 1778, by Rev. Jessie Carter -- died Sept. 24, 1824. Mary, his wife, died Aug. 17, 1830. Both are buried in VA."
