Hi! I don't know if this will help--but maybe it is relevant. It is from one of the so-called "useless" postings on the CARTER list. It is from ABSTRACTS OF REV. WAR PENSION FILES (PART 4 OF 6) posted by Donna Eldridge. I kept it in mind because my mother has CARTERs from near Talledega Co., AL. and this looked like it might help her. Here it is: "CARTER, John, Mourning, BLW reg #272650-55, VA line, widow application 1 Apr 1857 Talladega County AL aged 87, m. 13 Nov 1794 in Fluvanna County VA & soldier d. betw. 1803 & 1806 in Albemarle County Va., Sol's son Charles CARTER & youngest child was aged 54 in 1852, a resident of Talladega County AL states moved from VA about 1810 & also states wid's name before m. was Mourning Bond." I guess the dates don't really fit-unless this Mourning could be a mother to yours or even a grandmother, but it sounds like soldiers death date is uncertain. You might check the postings again as they have very useful info. Thank you, Cynthia CARTER DYER Molly Pere wrote: > Still searching for the parents of Mourning M CARTER , born abt 1808 in VA, > married Jabez L DRAKE in Huntsville Madison Co AL on May 10 1831 then moved > to Aberdeen , Monroe Co MS in the 1850's.
