The Carter info that is being posted by a couple of different people is great. My problem is I havent proven that I have a Carter ancestor. My ancestor is Eliz Ann Champe believe dau of John and Eliz Ann Sewell Champe. I bought a book on John Carter & desc of Va because Champe was listed. There was an Anne Carter who m John Champe. There were about 4 John Champe's in a row-4 generations. that is the only Carter-Champe connection I found-but John Champe was her first husband-and havent found any ch for them.
