Most of what comes through this list is useless to most people...your querries might be useless to me and others because it is irrelevent to our family research. My querries are probably useless to you because my CARTERs are not your CARTERs. But that doesn't make it useless trash to us all. Somewhere through all of the clutter something is going to click for someone. I think it is wonderful that you have documented all of your CARTERs with censuses and other documentation and you no longer need to check on this info. I can tell you right now, that ordering censuses is quite expensive--it adds up--it takes time to get it, view it, sometimes transcribe it--and sometimes after all this, you come up with nothing for all the trouble. There are some state and county sites that post censuses--but not all. There are volunteers for various counties in various states who will do lookups--but not every place has these volunteers. I have all kinds of family legends and hearsay that have been shared and passed along. I feel it is a family researchers duty to back these up with documentation. Do you feel this way about everything that comes over the CARTER list that doesn't pertain to you? My computer has a special capacity called DELETE--I use it frequently on this list--it beats complaining and ill will. Well, sorry for this tirade but you ask for others thoughts on this subject. thank you, Cynthia CARTER DYER Kilduffons@aol.com wrote: > ....or is anybody else really, really, really, really, really tired of getting > these endless CENSUS posts in our mailboxes, along with the other numerous > RECORDS, and ARCHIVES, etc etc etc ad nauseum?????????!!!!!!! > > I hate to complain about this, and I am fully prepared to be flamed to death > for opening my mouth (donning asbestos suit :>), but isn't there a better way > to *share* information besides cluttering up e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e-s mailbox???!!! > > If I am the only one, I am willing to unsubscribe and just move on to more > fertile and useful pastures.
