Hi everyone! My Carter ancestor is Phebe D. CARTER. "The History and Genealogies of Ancient Windsor, Connecticut" by Henry Stiles lists her as -- Phebe D. Carter, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, born in 1772. She married Joseph Stoughton, born in 1770 in Weathersfield, Vermont. I have looked through some pages of the "Carter" book via the FTM Genealogy Library and have seen several Carter names moving from the Fitchburg area of Massachusetts to Weathersfield, Vermont -- specifically I have noticed this trend in some of James4 Carter's children. I do not find my Phebe D. Carter (born c1772) in the book, however. Does anyone have her in their files? Any suggestions on other sources I may check for Carter genealogy (bearing in mind that I'm in the middle of the Great Plains)? I'm leaving for England on the 15th of this month and am hoping to find the origins of my Carter ancestors . . . . The names of Phebe's children are below-- Thanks for checking and best wishes!
