YES, I have these Carters. At least I have them in Washington Co. IL.... I don't understand how your 1860 Jefferson Co. can say the same place? The same place as Washington Co. IL??? Why is that? Anyway the Joel A. Carter in Washington Co. I am trying to link up with my Richard P. Carter who died 1849 of fever age 28. I think they are brothers. But this line has been hard to trace. My best guess at this time is that the following Carters: Livesay b. 1798 TN, Martha b. 1810 TN, Robert TN b. 1813, Joel A.. 1820 TN, and Richard P. b 1821 IL are children of Richard P. Carter and Sarah Winrow. Richard P. cart b. Va 1793 d. 1837 Morgan Co . IL is son of Rev. Robert Cater b. Ba 1761 d. IL 1819 Conton Co. m. Alice b. 1759 d 1821 Clinton Co. IL There was movement back and forth from Clinton, Morgan and Washington. I don't have proof for above. Just guessing. Washington Co. early history 1879 book says that 1840 in Richview newcomers HOUSE, Robert Carter were protected by Robert P. Livesay and Joel and Richard Carter.
