Hi, I got the following from friends who live in Omaha: Park & lake was named for Levi Carter who came to Nebraska City in 1856 & engaged in the freight business there until 1867 when he went to Omaha (Douglas Co.) Nebraska. >From 1862 he was in freight & contracting with Gen. Coe of Nebraska City. Also engaged in tie contracting & cattle raising in western Nebraska. They had 8,000 to 9,000 head of cattle, all domestic stock. Mr. Carter a native of Hampton, Belknap Co. NH. From: History of the State of Nebraska. 1882. Andreas.
