Dear Sharon, The facts of your story stunned me. Don't you think Erastus is an unusual name? My paternal grandfather's name is Norval Erastus Carter b 4-1-86 d 1-22-63. He was born in Bluford, Illinois to Martha Jane Carter and unknown father (g father Joel A Carter and g mother Mary Cole from Tennessee). Are you familiar with that locale? We do no know from where in TN they were born, maybe they went throught your KY area. Our Carters settled in the Washington, Clinton Co., Il for your reference. FYI the name Erastus is from the small country of Leichenstein-royalty. Let me know if you find anything. Best wishes, Sharon Carter Lengfellner Sharon Warner wrote: > I'm looking for information about Erastus Buchanan Carter (aka Rastus, E.B. > or R.B.) who was born 18 Mar 1857 in Menifee County, Kentucky.
