Does anyone have any info on this family: Charles H Carter Born March 19, 1842 in Potomac Mills, Westmorland County Virginia. Enlisted 6/4/61 in Company D 4oth Virginia Inf. Paroled from the Army 5/6/65 and farmed until 1870 when he moved to Shelby County Missouri. He then married Sarah Marie Talbot on 1/28/74. He Died 2/1/1890 of Consumption. Charles father was John (Jack) S Carter born about 1807 in Richmond county Virginia. Charles H was one of eight children of John S Carter and Nancy A Morris (Moriffs) Carter. They were married Dec 29, 1840. John S Carter died March 25 1869.. John S Carter was one of five children of John and Marry (Polly) Carter. John and Polly were married September 19, 1798. John and Mary's children were John S , Daniel , Fenner, Lucy Ann (Jones) and Elizabeth Carter. John Carter's mother using tax records was a Penelope (Marks) Carter. Her father was John Marks. This line of Carter's except for Charles moving to Missouri all come from Westmoreland and Richmond Counties in Virginia. Keith Carter [email protected]
