Hi All, Thanks to a kind lady named Nancy,I now have the the last name of Willams wife and the marriage date for them.I am hoping the new info may lead to connections with other Carters in the Botetourt County Va. William H Carter b 2-1845 in Botetourt County died: 3-17-1924 in Boteoturt County Married: Nannie Mildred Clements 5-7-1867 in Botetourt Co. she was born: 11-23-1845 Botetourt Co. died: 7-27-1919 in Botetourt County William & Nannie are buried in Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan,Va. William's parents were: Joseph Carter b abt 1806 in Amherst County?? & Belsora (Sally or Sarah) Lavender b abt 1818 in Amherst County Va It seems that Jospeh died between 1860 and 1870. Do not know where he and Sarah are buried. Nannie's parents were: Ansalem Clements & Angelina Crawford they were from Amherst County Va but may have been born in Rockbridge Co Va. I only have three of William & Nannie's children.In the 1900 census they have six living children and 1 dec. Ida E Carter b 1881 Gracie Carter b 1883 James Edgar Carter b 2-17-1868 died: 11-12-1951 Buried in Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan Va. He married: Mary Jane Wicher 8-15-1888 in Botetourt Co. They had the following children............................................................... Nannie Bertha Carter b 1889 Charles Edgar Carter b 1891 Nina Gertude Carter b 1892 Robert Harry Carter b 1893 Mark Carter b 1896 James Richard Carter b 1900 I have not been able to find William H and Nannie Carter in the 1860-1870 and 1880 census records. I found them in 1900-1910- and William in 1920. I can't understand why they were not in the earlier census records unless they moved for awhile and then moved back to Botetourt County.Any help will be greatly apprecited. Jackie [email protected]
