I'll post my brick wall again for those who may be recent subscribers or may have missed my first posting. Researching Wiley J or W J Carter who was born in Lincoln Co TN in 1837. I haven't been able to find out who his parents were. W J moved to Alabama in the early 1860's where he joind the 27th ALabama Infantry CSA at New Market in Madison Co. He lost his right leg at the battle of Peach Tree Creek. WJ setled in Marshall Co Alabama where he died in 1910. He was Married at least three times. His wives include Mary P Elizabeth Roden and Victoria Long. I have been told WJ came to Alabama from Missouri But I have checked both the 1850 and 1860 Missouri Census and could find no trace of him.
