    3. Linda: Back in those days slaves were consided property, and yes you would be correct thqat a will could have info on the slaves that were owned. There are many other documents such as plantation recordes , tax schedules etc... that would have valuable info as well. I beleive at the Mary Ball library in Lancaster Va. would have copies of those records as well as the county records office. The Christ Church in Lancaster Va. that was built by Robert Carter has allot of the Carter information. Hope this helps.
