I'm not sure if there is a connection, but I am researching Carter surname and have ran in to brick walls for the past 10 years. I am interested in your information, because I have a Horne connection also, but have not been able to make the connection. I have some family letter that called John E. Horne and family Uncle and cousins. I don't know who John's wife is because I have not found a marriage record and I can't make out the census record I have. John Horne was in Panola Co., Mississippi in 1850 and he was killed during the civil war. He was born around 1807 NC. I am research Samuel Albert Carter b. 1810 NC. He was in Giles Co., TN in 1840, Madison Co., AL in 1850, and in the Holmes & Attala Co., MS areas between 1860-1870. I lost track of him after that. I don't know what his wife's maiden name was. My website: www.expage.com/familyresearch Have you ran into any of these names during your research?
