The book "Giles Carter of Virginia" by General William Giles Harding Carter, US Army, published in 1908, lists Giles Carter's descendants known when the book was published. Both the names "Giles" and Theodorick" appear a number of times in this family and are almost unknown in any other Carter family. Page 82 of the book tells of the will of Theodorick Carter (the third) of Halifax County, Virginia, which was executed on July 13th, 1805. It lists a daughter Elizabeth who married a (first name unknown) Richardson. Page 109 shows this Theodorick married first, a Miss Townes and second Judith Cunningham. Page 116 lists this Theodorick's children but does not say which child was by which mother. This may not be your Elizabeth. There are a number of Elizabeth Carters and Theodorick Carters in the book. If this is the correct Theodorick, the book gives his father as Theodorick (the second, will probated Prince Edward County, Virginia, on 19 Jan 1778) son of Theodorick (the first, died 1736/1737 in Henrico, Co, VA) son of Giles Carter (1634-1699/17000). I am very interested in this family because your Theodorick Carter may be a brother to my 5g-grandfather William Carter who died in 1810 in Halifax County, North Carolina. But I can find no proof to connect my William Carter with the William Carter, son of Theodorick Carter (the second).
